our story

At inBloom, we believe dedication to quality is not a one-time decision, but a daily choice. Our mission from day one has been to provide quality food and good vibes to fuel the highest quality you. This means going the extra mile to provide you with the tastiest, healthiest menu at an affordable price, because quality is for everyone! From sourcing to bottling, our cold-press juices are curated for your body, your taste buds, your budget, and our environment.

inBloom sprouted from the crowded college kitchen of our founder, JR Ricker. A biology major and a member of the IU track team from 2010-15, JR was always looking for sustainable ingredients to a healthy lifestyle. He began incorporating green juice into his daily routine, eventually striking a convenient balance of taste and nutrition. After hundreds of hours testing, he created a full-blown menu with juices as healthy as they tasted. With a pushcart to share his passion from, he launched inBloom Juicery in the spring of 2016.

We've grown from the pushcart days. And while you can still find us set up outside of Bloomington Farmer's Market or across from IU's Sample Gates, we've found a place to call home!

In our new shop at 116 E 3rd St, we're not only busy pressing the freshest juice, but also creating the most delicious superfood smoothie bowls in Bloomington. Perhaps you've seen a vibrant inBloom smoothie bowl while scrolling through your Snapchat or Instagram feed?

We’re now 8 years into the “healthy fast food” business, and we're thrilled to have developed some of the best, most loyal customers. Seeing familiar faces walking back through our doors -- recapping the story of their previous night's dream about our juice or smoothie bowls -- has been a real source of inspiration and gratitude for a great 8 years.

We can't wait to write the next chapter of inBloom's story in Bloomington (the greatest college town in America)!

JR Ricker

JR was raised an Indiana Hoosier. Growing up in Indianapolis, he and his family would make frequent trips to Bloomington for IU football and basketball games. Aside from the Saturday tailgating, JR always loved Bloomington's small businesses. Growing up as the son of a small business owner,  he was instilled with an an entrepreneurial spirit, which was intrigued by the lack of healthy, grab-n-go options in Bloomington. Upon graduating IU with a Bachelor in Biology, he jumped at the opportunity and inBloom was born.

Mark is a recent graduate of Indiana University this past May as a double major in Psychology and Sociology. He was a 5 year member of the track and cross country team at IU, having been a teammate of JR’s for 3 of those years and he was happy to join the inBloom team to help grow JR’s dream. Mark is our social media guru, affectionately known to many as “Mark the Marketing Guy” so if your picture isn’t picked as our weekly winner feel free to blame him.
